I don’t feel like writing a coherent blog post today so I’m just going to write down bits and pieces.
First and foremost I’ve started watching a science documentary television series called Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey. And you should watch it too because it’s about life and moss piglets. And you get to travel in the Ship of the Imagination fueled by equal parts of science and wonder… I think it’s needless to say more.
Secondly, I’ve been to Seltjarnarnes two Sundays ago and it’s a really nice place to walk around. Seltjarnarnes is a township located within the Greater Reykjavík area (Seltjarnarnes Google Maps). The area is famous for all the different kinds of birds that are nesting there (more than one hundred different species have been recorded). I have firsthand experience with these cute and little (read: overprotective and aggressive) birds because I’ve been attacked by a thousand Arctic terns during a desperate search for a toilet.
Thirdly, last Saturday I went for a coffee in the new Stofan Kaffihús. It’s as lovely as the former location, only a bit bigger. But definitely one of the loveliest cafés in Reykjavík.
Fourthly, I’m going to join a photo project in the coming month. For this project I have to take pictures of things that make me happy with a disposable camera and these photos might be published in a good news newspaper! I like this! And I can combine this photo project with my upcoming trip to the Westfjords and the north of Iceland.
Lastly I’ve found a new and more serious undertaking to work on, and I’m glad to have found it. It has something to do with writing and literature in the city of Reykjavík… But more on this in about a month, after the holiday season. 🙂
